Summary: This magazine does not exist any more !
Comment: I have placed my order with Amazon on 27th of September 2008. It took until December 1st for the publisher to send me letter, informing me that they will not continue to publish the "Coral" magazine any more. A new magazine is in the works and will be available some time in spring 2009.
They offered me to stick to the new magazine or to get a refund, which would be processed withtin 60 to 90 days. So all in all I have then given these guys a $40 credit for free for 6 months ?
I had subscribed to the german magazine "Koralle" for years. "Coral" is the US version, they have reprinted the german version always a few quarters later. IMO "Koralle" is still one of the best magazines about reef keeping and marine aquariums and it's sad too see what happened to it here in the US....

Summary: Excellent Marine Aquarium Magazine
Comment: This magazine is excellent. It is originally published in German (the author, Daniel Knop, is German), but then translated into, among several languages, English. The articles are very interesting information - each issue is dedicated to a different topic that you can read to the level you want; anyone from a beginner aquarist to one who has been in the hobby for many years will find useful information.

The entire magazine is a high-quality color print, no cheap pages. It is published every 2 months, and it usually takes me that long to truly digest all of the information. Other topics also include sections dedicated to the beginner aquarist, and general articles of interest to anyone interested in the marine environment and new discoveries.

Yes, there are online reef magazines, but this complements them and does not duplicate them - so get it if you are in the hobby!

Truly worth the money; an absolutely excellent quality product!

Summary: Great Magazine
Comment: Coral Magazine skips the basics and ignores the temptation to cater to a more casual crowd with every-other-issue features on tank cycling and the dangers of overfeeding. Instead, it features less general topics with a slightly more esoteric approach while remaining accessible to common hobbyists such as myself. Having spent innumerable hours scouring the web and nearly every forum available on marine aquaculture, I can confidently say one can find novel information and ideas in Coral Magazine that are rarely, if ever, discussed anywhere else. (See August/September 2007 issue discussing what the author calls "induced longitudinal fission" of ricordea for a great example.)

This magazine provides incredible photographs, well written articles, and insightful commentary. Any hobbyist who has spent more than a few hours reading through books or online forums in this subject should greatly appreciate Coral magazine.

Summary: A better marine aquarium magazine doesn't exist.....literally
Comment: While originally and currently published in Germany as Koralle magazine, Coral the English version, stands as the only magazine exclusive to the marine aquarium hobby currently being offered here in the U.S. With that said Coral is a great magazine that I would encourage novice, advanced, and expert marine hobbyist alike in enjoying and securing as the exclusive premiere marine aquarium magazine.
